David Rudisha storms to 800m success in World Championships to add to London 2012 triumph

BEIJING - Kenya's Olympic champion David Rudisha put three difficult years behind him and trusted his finishing pace to regain the world 800 metres title at the Bird's Nest on Tuesday.

Still not back at his best after the knee injury that cost him his chance to defend the world title in 2013, the 26-year-old kicked for home at the end of the back straight and held on to win gold in one minute 45.84 seconds.

The strain of the last 50 metres was clear on his face as he held off Pole Adam Kszczot and there were no huge smiles from the quietly-spoken world record holder after crossing the line, just a single finger raised to the sky in celebration.

"This is really special for me," he told reporters. "Despite the fact that I was coming from a bad injury that almost pushed me out of my career ... to be back here and to prove to the world that I can win the world championships it means a lot." More pics after the cut...

Members of Parliament from the Ukambani region, allied to Cord co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka, have faulted a move by other leaders to install Governor Alfred Mutua as the community’s kingpin.

The leaders said the move is a plot by Jubilee politicians to split the Kamba vote ahead of the 2017 elections.

“The governor should stop the ongoing campaign of ridiculing Kalonzo since the community still has faith in his leadership… I was not elected on a Wiper party but I have a reason to defend Kalonzo since he’s the community’s elder and time to replace him is not yet ripe,” Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi of Muungano party as quoted by The Standard on August 25, 2015.

Thai police say whereabouts of bomber a mystery, a week after blast

BANGKOK: Police said on Monday the trail had gone cold in the hunt for a bomber a week after 20 people were killed in Thailand's worst ever bomb attack, and they were unsure if the chief suspect was still in the country.

Although half of the 14 foreigners killed in the blast at Bangkok's most famous Buddhist shrine were from mainland China or Hong Kong, tour operators said there was little sign that Chinese holidaymakers had been put off visiting Thailand, providing some relief for the economy, at least.

The main evidence police have to go on is security camera footage. Some, from the Erawan shrine, shows the suspected bomber slipping off a backpack and walking away.
