DPP orders probe into Aladwa's utterance

The director of public prosecution, Keriako Tobiko has directed DCI director Ndegwa Muhoro and National cohesion Integration commission (NCIC) to investigate current ODM’s Nairobi county branch chairman George Aladwa over hate speech remarks.

This is in response to a video that emerged on Wednesday, October 21 of him inciting a charged crowd during Mashujaa day celebrations in Kibera.

In the video that has been doing rounds on social media, Aladwa allegedly said that if the 2017 election will be rigged, a few people must die for Raila to become President.

A number of Kenyans took to social media via the hashtag #ArrestAladwa to express their disappointment in Aladwa, some demanding for his arrest.

NCIC chairman Francis Ole Kaparo on Thursday expressed his disappointment adding that investigations into the matter had begun. He also said that action will be taken after analysis of the video.

The former Nairobi mayor is also captured warning National Assembly majority leader and Garissa town member of parliament Adan Duale and Gatundu south MP Moses Kuria against linking CORD principle Raila Odinga to DP William Ruto’s ICC case over the 2007/8 post-election violence.

Jubilee leaders have come out to condemn Aladwa and demanded he be arrested for his reckless remarks and be charged for hate speech. They said the utterances were a plot being hatched by CORD after sensing 2017 defeat.

The ODM chairman will join other leaders on the spot over hate speech and incitement to violence. The leaders facing separate incitement charges include; Johnstone Muthama, Moses Kuria and political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi.
