Jubilee Giving Waiguru 'Special Treatment' In Corruption Fight

Admittance by devolution cabinet secretary Anne Waiguru that the National Youth Service lost about KSh 800 million has seen Kenyans renew calls for action to be taken against her.

Waiguru, who had in the past maintained the the NYS scandal was detected before any money was lost, on Friday, September 11, 2015 admitted that indeed there were irregular payments in her ministry.

She said the names of the 21 officials forwarded to her by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations would be given to the Director of Public Prosecutions Kerioko Tobiko for action.

However, Kenyans are no satisfied with the move as many feel that the Jubilee administration had been soft on her.

State House in June, amid calls from the opposition to have Anne Waiguru step aside, defended the minister and her word that no money was lost in the ministry.

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich also told a parliamentary committee that the fraud had been detected by the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) and stopped at the second stage; there were about 24 stages to go.
