A police officer in Kwale county allegedly swallowed bribe money after being cornered by Ethics and Anti-Corruption (EACC) officials.
Regional EACC boss Hassan Khalid said they had to put constable police George Ochieng under 24/7 supervision in order to retrieve the evidence when he relieves himself.
“That was our only evidence but medical experts have been called upon to assist with the report,” Khalid as quoted by The Star.
Ochieng, Kinango OCPD Justin Nyaga’s driver, is said to have dropped his boss before stopping a charcoal dealer for committing traffic offences on Thursday, September 10, 2015.
He is said to have taken the dealer Dzenga Mohamed’s national ID and driving license and demanded to be paid the amount in order to release them.
EACC has notably intensified their efforts to nab corrupt government officials across the country.
The commission has already called for the arrest of three police officers who were apparently rescued by their colleagues after being caught taking bribes from motorists along Nairobi-Mombasa highway on September 10.
Two prosecutors were arrested in Kisumu on September 1 for allegedly receiving a cash bribe of KSh 15,000.
A chief inspector of police, together with a Kenya Power senior technician, had been arrested a week earlier for apparently collecting KSh 150,000 from individuals illegal power connection in Nakuru.
In August, a paralegal officer in Meru was unlucky after KSh 10,000 ‘bribe’ that she threw in a pit latrine was retrieved by anti corruption officials and would be used as evidence against her.
