Avril reveals the truth about the ‘salvation’ prayer clip

The Chokoza hit-maker has revealed in a statement issued to newsrooms that she will not be joining the gospel camp. According to the statement the singer's management said that a video of pastors praying for her has been misinterpreted.

“Sections of the media have been reporting the singer (Avril) is now a gospel artiste which is untrue. This comes after a video surfaced online showing the singer being prayed for by pastors,” read the statement.

The video which surfaced online last weekend showed Avril receiving prayers from two different pastors.

In response to the online buzz about her salvation Avril said that she has always been open about her spirituality.

“I have always been very clear about how my faith is important to me. I would not be here if it was not for the love of Christ, so I had no objection whatsoever to intercession from such powerful people in the ministry,” asserted Avril.

The singer, whose mother is a pastor was quick to make it clear that the events that took place over the weekend will not change the course of her music career.

“The events, however, do not dictate that my career and strategy had an overnight overhaul. I continue to live my life in Christ as I always have through the guidance of my pastor and my mother. Everyone who knows me knows that she’s my rock in the word of God,” says Avril.

Avril who has had a successful career as a secular artiste is one of the musicians chosen for the third season of Coke Studio Africa.
